What is turmeric?
Turmeric is a herbaceous plant of the zingiberaceae family native to southeastern India, also known as sulfur of the Indies and in parts of Latin America as "poor man's saffron", or simply saffron.
The properties of this botanical treasure were used for the first time in its country of origin between 610 BC. C. and 320 a. C. as a colorant for the body and as a textile dye to dye cotton, wool, silk, leather, paper, lacquers, varnish, waxes, dyes and others.

What is turmeric used for?
